About UsThe Center for Clinical and Translation Science and Training (CCTST) was established by David Stern, MD, Dean of the College of Medicine, in October 2005. The CCTST is co-directed by Joel Tsevat, MD, MPH, Professor of Medicine and Associate Dean for Clinical Research, and James Heubi, MD, Professor of Pediatrics and Associate Dean for Clinical Research, with support from the Program Manager, Susan Swearingen. Located in Suite 300 on the 10th floor of the new CCHMC “S” Building, the CCTST serves the entire UC Academic Health Center by:
The CCTST coordinates the Dean's Scholar Program, which provides up to $50,000 year to foster the career development of promising junior faculty (Instructor or Assistant Professor) in clinical research. The CCTST spearheaded the Academic Health Center’s application for a Clinical and Translational Science Award (CTSA) in 2007-2008. The CTSA is an NIH Roadmap initiative to create an academic home for clinical and translational research at academic health centers across the country. The CTSA proposed areas of focus include: 1. Pilot and collaborative translational and clinical studies, 2. Biomedical informatics, 3. Research design, epidemiology, biostatistics, and clinical research ethics, 4. Regulatory knowledge and support, 5. Participant and clinical interactions resources, 7. Community engagement and research, 8. Research education, training and career development, 9. Enabling technologies to support clinical/translational research, and 10. Molecular and cell therapy matrix program and translational cores. In anticipation of submitting an Institutional CTSA application, the CCTST submitted a CTSA Planning Grant in March 2006, which was funded in September 2006. The CCTST
now offers Access to CCHMC Extranet for University of Cincinnati
researchers, faculty and staff. We have received many requests from UC personnel
needing information for research collaboration projects with Cincinnati Children's
Hospital Medical Center. We hope this service will be an asset to research collaborations
across the Academic Health Center. |
