Dean’s Scholars in Clinical ResearchNext application deadline: TBAThe mission of the Dean's Scholars in Clinical Research Program is to foster the career development of promising junior faculty (Instructor or Assistant Professor) in clinical research, defined as patient-oriented research, translational research, epidemiology, outcomes research, and health services research. Dean’s Scholars will be eligible for up to $50,000/year for up to 3 years to cover expenses for biostatistical support, informatics support, grants administration, and tuition for courses offered in the MS in Clinical Research program. It is expected that departments will provide salary support for protected time to support these promising young clinical researchers. As many as 3 Dean’s Scholar awards will be made per year on a competitive basis from candidates in any clinical departments across the Academic Health Center. Candidate selection criteria include academic track record, career plans to become an independently funded clinician-investigator, and the commitment on the part of the division or department to protect the candidate’s time for research (at least 75% protected time recommended). Applicants will be selected by a committee chaired by the Associate Deans for Clinical Research. The committee will review each Scholar’s progress annually to determine continued funding. Applications will require the candidate’s CV, a personal statement including a proposed career development plan and proposed project (s), and a letter of support from his/her department chair (or division director) outlining career plans for the Scholar and departmental (or divisional) support. Deadline for the next round of funding is TBA. Click here for additional guidelines.
